We’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s
The American Dream Celebration
Dear Friend of The Literacy Center,
We’ve made the difficult decision to cancel The American Dream Celebration (ADC) this year due to the continued COVID-19 health crisis.
The ADC is not only our chance to gather and celebrate with all of you but it is also our largest revenue opportunity of the year. The funds raised by this celebration help support the operational expenses of The Literacy Center and fund the ongoing adult literacy and workforce development programs. We knew cancelling this event would have a tremendous financial impact for our organization, but the health of our supporters and our community is our most important priority.
We need your help.
We believe that with your help, we can lessen the impact of corona virus on our mission to serve those who need us now more than ever. We’re asking you to please consider turning your ticket or table purchase into a 100% tax deductible gift to The Literacy Center to help fund our new distance learning program. Since closing our classrooms in mid-March due to Covid, we have transitioned more than 200 students to online
learning platforms. In fact, our adult students have averaged approximately 750 hours of online learning each week for the last four months. We estimate the additional investment needed to move to a blended learning model will cost us $50,000 or more.
And, although we won’t be gathering in person, we hope you’ll consider participating in our upcoming virtual American Dream Celebration auction. From August 19 to September 10, you will be able to bid on fine dining gift certificates, spa treatments, golf and tennis packages and more! You can preview auction items here.
Every little bit helps!
Thank you for your support during this challenging time for our organization and our community. And thank you to our sponsors:
